Ray Lucia Sr: Many people recognize Ray Lucia Sr. for his work in retirement planning and for the simple framework he built to explain how income can be managed after leaving the workforce. He is an American retired Certified Financial Planner, author, and media personality who created the Buckets of Money® retirement strategy, a time-segmented approach that groups assets based on when they may be needed. Over more than three decades in financial services, he served as President and CEO of Raymond J. Lucia Companies, Inc. for more than 15 years. His perspective reached a broad audience through advising, writing, and broadcasting, and he became a familiar retirement-planning voice to listeners and viewers nationwide through The Ray Lucia Show. Ray Lucia Sr. was born on April 3, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the age of ten, he moved with his family to Poway, California, and he grew up in San Diego County. As a student, he worked hard in academics while also dedicating himself to sports. He became known as a quarterback and played football for 1.5 years at Palomar Junior College. From there, he was recruited on scholarship to Western Illinois University.
